“These Things We Believe”

Emmanuel Church of Mountain Home, Arkansas, 3461 Highway 5 North, is three miles North of downtown Mountain Home. The fellowship is made up of believers from many denominational backgrounds and new believers with no previous affiliation with any denomination. The church is a place where spiritually hungry souls may come and seek God for His fullness. “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness; for they shall be filled.” (Matthew 5:6)

We Believe:

1. Inspiration of the Scriptures: We believe in the verbal inspiration of the Bible, both the Old and New Testaments. (II Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 4:12; I Peter 1:25; II Peter 1: 19-21)

2. God: We believe in one God revealed in three persons; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. (Genesis 1:26; Matthew 3:16,17; John 17:1-26; I John 5:7)

3. Man: We believe that man in his natural state is a sinner, lost, undone, without hope, and without God. (Romans 3:10-23; Galatians 3:22; Ephesians 2:1-3,11,12)

4. Divinity and Humanity of Christ Jesus: We
believe that Jesus is God come in the flesh and the He is divine and was human. (Luke 1:26-38; John 1:1-14; Acts 2:36; 3:14,15: Philippians 2:5-12; I Timothy 3:16)

5. Blood of Jesus: We believe in the saving power of the blood of Jesus and His imputed righteousness reconciling us to God. (John 1:29; Romans 51-l1; Acts 4:12; Ephesians 1:3-15; Hebrews 9; Hebrews 10; Revelation 1:7)

6. Bodily Resurrection: We believe in the
bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ. (Luke 24:30-43; John 20:24-29; Acts 1:1-3)

7. Ascension: We believe that Christ Jesus ascended to the Father and is presently preparing a place for the saints and interceding for the saints. (John 14:1-6; Romans 8:34; Acts 1:9-11)

8. Second Coming: We believe in the visible, bodily return of Christ Jesus to this earth to receive His church (bride) and judge the world. (Actsl:10,11; I Thessalonians 4:13-18; II Thessalonians 1:7-10; James 5:8)

9. Salvation: We believe that the terms of salvation are repentance toward God for sin and a personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, confessing Him as our Lord. This salvation is entirely by grace of our Lord. and not of works. (Romans 4:1-5, 5:1,12,17-21; 10:9,10; Acts 3:19,20; Ephesians 2:8-10)

10. Church: We believe the church of the Lord Jesus Christ is believers who assemble to worship, carry forth the great commission, and minister as the Holy Ghost leads them. (Matthew 16:18; Acts 2:40-47; 20:28; I Corinthians 12:12-28; Ephesians 5:22-32; I Timothy 3:15)

11 Ordinances of Identification: We believe that water baptism and the Lord’s supper are ordinances of the church.
Baptism: Immersion in water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, which is identification with Jesus Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. (Matthew 3:16; 28:19,20; Romans 6:1-4; Acts
8:38,39) Lord’s Supper: A reminder of the death, resurrection, and second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. This ordinance reminds us of His blood covenant relationship with us. (Luke 22:18-20; I Corinthians 11:23,24; the book of Hebrews)

12. Separated Life: We believe that believers should seek as the early disciples did, to live a separated life unto Christ and thereby bear the fruit of the spirit, and produce standards of conduct which will exalt our Lord. (Romans 12:1,3,11; II Corinthians 6:17; Galatians 2:20; Galatians 5:22-25; Colossians 3:17; I Thessalonians 4:7)

13. Heaven and Hell: We believe the scriptures clearly set forth doctrines of eternal punishment for the lost and eternal joy for the saved. (Matthew 24:34,41-46; John 14:1-3; Revelation 20:11-15)

14. Holy Spirit: We believe the Holy Spirit to be the third person of the trinity whose - purpose in the redemption of man is to convict men of sin, regenerate the repentant believer, guide the believer into all truths, in-dwell and give gifts to believers as He wills, and in all things to testify and exalt the name of Jesus. We believe that the manifestations of the Holy Spirit will operate in present day churches which yield to the Lord. (Luke 11:13; John 14: 16,17; 15:26,27; 16:7-14; Acts 2:38-47; I Corinthians 12)

15. Divine Health and Healing: We believe that healing and health have been provided for the believer in the redemption that Jesus Christ purchased at Calvary. We believe you can be healed and walk in health today. (Isaiah 53:4,5; Matthew 8:17; Mark 16:18; I Corinthians 12:9; James 5:15,16; I Peter 2:24)

16. Priesthood of Believers: Each believer has access to God through Jesus Christ. We are a separated people made kings and priests to the living God by Jesus Christ. No person, group or government has any authority to be mediator between God and man. (I Timothy 2:5,6; Hebrews 10:19; I Peter 2:9,10; Revelation 1:5,6; 5:9,10)

17. Authority in the Church: We believe that the local church has a right to govern itself under the lordship of Christ Jesus and where it deems best for the life of the church and testimony of the Lord, may discipline in the spirit of LOVE any member who departs from the principles set forth in these articles or whose conduct is contrary to the spirit and practice of this body. (Matthew 18:15-17; I Corinthians 5:1-8; Galatians 6:1-2; Hebrews 13:17)

18. Divine Officers: The ordained officers ministering in this church are:
Pastors: I Timothy 3:1-7
Elders: Titus 1:5-9; I Peter 5:1-5; James 5:14,15
Deacons: Acts 6:1-6, I Timothy 3:8-13 They are subject to this local church and most important to the Lord.

19. Evangelism and Missions: We believe in local and distant missions and evangelism. We believe the primary opportunity of the local church is to see people come to know Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord. (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-20; Acts 1:8)

20. Praise and Worship: We praise and worship God (give Him the glory) in truth, song, and music using our hands, breath, feet, heart, soul, spirit and strength. We believe our whole life, given to Him as a living sacrifice, is our spiritual worship. (Psalms 150, 100, 47, 149; Romans 12; John 4)
